"Your Hip Bone's Connected To Your Thigh bone."

A few weeks ago, a patient asked me if I treated conditions other than those that affect the spine. - 10/22/2007

I said yes of course and this confirmed her own personal opinion about chiropractic medicine. However, she told me that she could not wait to go home and "rub it in" on her husband that attempted to convince her Chiropractors only treat conditions of the low back and neck. This statement surprised me, especially since it came from a chiropractic patient of over 5 years. With all the new found “patient knowledge” on health care, especially on the interne, I assumed that people already knew what Chiropractors treat, especially patients. I guess I assumed wrongly.Chiropractors are best known for treating low back pain and conditions of the spine but actually are qualified to treat much more. The focus of chiropractic medicine is conditions that effect the muculoskeletal system, which is composed of your bones, joints, muscles, nerves, ligaments and tendons. The basis of chiropractic medicine is the restoration of normal function and motion of a joint complex. The joint complex consists of the union of two or more bones and all the surrounding muscles, ligaments and tendons. When the normal joint mechanics become altered, this effects the functioning the surrounding tissues and can cause muscle spasm, inflammation, altered movement patterns and most commonly pain. It is important to recognize that the structure and function of your body are inseparable. I emphasize a “total” approach to health care and focus on the entire body when I treat my patients. I also feel that the burden of healing is a mutual relationship between the doctor and patient. It is the doctor’s responsibility to provide the best possible care available and guide the patient on their way to improving their health. Then it is up to the patient to use the “tools” that the doctor has given them to implement changes in their lifestyle and strengthen their body. Patients often come to our office to seek relief from:·Sciatica·Headaches·Neck Pain·Sports Injuries·Knee Injuries·Low back Pain·Shoulder injuires/pain·Disc Injuries·Carpal Tunnel Syndrome·Scoliosis and much more!!!I welcome any questions you may have about Chiropractic health care.
